FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Press Release
From Nav Canada
The Kamloops FIC already handles all telephone and enroute services previously managed by
the Kamloops Flight Service Station, as of Dec. 17, 2002. 1-866-WXBRIEF is also already
activated for Kamloops. The Kamloops FSS now focuses entirely on local aerodrome advisory
services.
Future Transitions
Throughout 2003 and into 2004, the Kamloops FIC will gradually accept other toll-free
telephone and enroute services across the entire FIC service area, with 1-866-WXBRIEF
services activated in line with each telephone transition. The FIC will be completely
operational by Sept. 30, 2004.
FSS Access
Walk-in briefing services will continue to be provided at selected British Columbia Flight
Service Stations as usual, until Pilot Information Kiosks have been installed at each
airport location for a period of at least 90 days. To date, Kiosks have been installed at
Vancouver International, Port Hardy, Campbell River, Kamloops, Castlegar, Penticton and
Williams Lake.
Keeping You Informed
All Kamloops FIC service transitions will be communicated to you in advance through
regular direct notices, as well as in Aeronautical Publications. General information on
the FIC Project is available at our website at www.navcanada.ca
under "Service Projects".
